Part of my resolutions this year was to do more ‘kind things’ because apparently, doing nice things for other people makes you feel more positive about yourself because you’ve made someone happy. I like making people happy and I am striving to be happier in my daily life. So, here are two things that I did in January to achieve that.
Galentine’s Day stems from the creative geniuses behind Parks and Recreation. It’s a day to celebrate your female friends, commemorated annually on February 13. Last year, I made joke-Vday cards but I decided to make slightly more meaningful ones this year, with backgrounds ripped from my old Lilly Pulitzer planner. While some managed to reach on the day itself, or slightly before, some arrived a day or two later, while a couple did not make it at all 🤷♀️; foiled by the postal service.
Another fun project was taking 21 photos from the bottom of the KLCC Twin Towers for the Love Across Distances project. It’s where you help someone take a photo of a sentence, typically ” (insert name of significant other), (person who requested it)’s love for you is so big it has reached (location where you’re taking the photograph).” So a few weeks ago, I dropped by the KL Twin Towers really early took the photos and left in in the span of 15 minutes. Here’s an example of how it turned out:
While both projects were really fun to do in January, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to do that again in the upcoming years. We’ll have to see. I hope you had a nice Galentine’s +/- Valentine’s Day!
A few weeks ago, instead of properly studying for my IELTS exams, I decided to make these and send them out to my favourite girls for Galentine’s/Valentine’s Day.
I am VERY GLAD to say that due to reasonable planning, most of them arrived before/on the due date, so it was fitting. But somehow post to Ireland always gets delayed, so two of them didn’t reach exactly on time.
For you to find them amusing, you’d have to actually know the joke. And I like to think I chose appropriate ones for the right people, or at least, chose the right jokes for the right girl. These aren’t meant to be romantic, they’re meant to make you laugh. And I hope they did.
Now all I have to do is think of how I’m going to ‘level up’ from this next year. 😂
I’m pretty awake for someone who could barely wake up this morning. It’s Sunday night, and it’s Valentine’s Day. So to those of you reading this, Happy ‘If You’re In Love, I Hope Your Significant Other Made You Something Nice’ Day/ Happy Sunday to rest of us.
Last week was good: I got my results for IELTS and I scored a Band 9, which is an improvement from my score 5 years ago. I got to go home for five days because of Chinese New Year. I managed to successfully do a few venipunctures in the ED and actually used my time quite well. I made a few friends smile with surprise Galentine’s Day cards, which were so lame, but that was the point. I watched Deadpool, TWICE and I highly recommend it if you don’t mind them using the R-rating to it’s fullest.
While I could not make it for Ash Wednesday mass, which was a bummer, I did see a Zachary Levi lookalike in church yesterday. I know, it’s silly for that to count as a highlight but, ZACHARY LEVI LOOKALIKE. Cut me some slack.
Today was my first day in anesthesia, and I can tell you that it’s not the most exciting field. It’s long, it’s tiring, and it can be kinda boring, unfortunately. I don’t know, it’s day 1. I have another 9 days in this. (welp)
We have reached the middle of February. I’m both amazed and alarmed by this. How fast time flies!
Because the Daleks (also from Doctor Who) like to Exterminate people. Yes, it IS their tagline.
Its Valentine’s Day again and THAT’s how I’m celebrating it; with aliens. haha. I know some of us may feel a teensy bit left out because we’re “alone” while everyone else is snogging each other’s face off. But the love celebrated need not be romantic love but the love for a friend or for a pet or for your family. or for a television show about aliens (har har har). or love for a faithful reader (or a one-off one) who bothers about my silly blog.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you dear reader. I love you for caring enough to stop by.
To those who are miserable enough today to think “I’ll be lonely forever!” or “WHEN WHEN WHEN”, here’s a little comic I’d like you to look at. It may make you feel better. It’s by Rachel Nabors, who I came across around four years ago. Its not fantastic artwork but its far better than anything I could ever come up with. But it’s the message of this particular comic that I want to share with you.
